KDD Celebrates a Milestone!
News
February 2019 marks 10 years since Katy Dwyer Design began.
Katy Dwyer Design, as you know it today, was very different 10 years ago.
I began Katy Dwyer Design as a freelance business after having my first child.
KDD was a sole proprietorship—I registered the name as a DBA—and I worked out of my home.
With some good search engine optimization, KDD attracted a few base clients—some of whom we still count as clients, and friends, today!
The first four years were pretty up and down. A freelance business is like that, especially when you aren’t putting all your time and effort into it.
But in 2013, I made the decision to join a chamber of commerce, put myself out there more, and work harder on the business. And I’ve never looked back.
There was a period between 2015 and 2017 that Katy Dwyer Design didn’t actually exist. I closed the business and started a partnership—continuing to do what I do best—helping other businesses with their brand presence both on and offline. The partnership didn’t work out, but it was a significant learning experience, and KDD came back bigger and better than ever.
So if you wonder why we aren’t celebrating a true 10 year anniversary, that’s why. While it has been 10 years since I started KDD, it hasn’t been 10 years of KDD being in existence.
That doesn’t make this milestone any less important.

Above, the KDD website in it’s 4 existences. From left to right: the original 2009 website, Redesigned in 2011, then again in 2013, and finally, our current site which was designed in 2017.
This milestone marks: 10 years of running a business; 6 years of solid networking and building important relationships; 5 amazing team members who are currently part of the KDD team; 4 different KDD websites; 3 rebrands of KDD; 2 offices that we’ve occupied since we began; 1 partnership that taught me more than I could have imagined; and countless friends, colleagues, clients, who have come into my life.
Here’s to many, many more years and many, many more milestones!
